Letrozole is medication in a tablet form, used to treat various types of breast cancer. This medication is also used to (increase ovulation or fertility by blocking the production of estrogen in the body and increasing the chances of getting pregnant) ask your healthcare provider for the other uses of Letrozole.

The main aim of this medication is to lower or stop the growth of some breast cancers that generally occur in the female sex hormone due to the stimulation of estrogen. It works by reducing the amount of estrogen produced by the hormones in the body. It’s highly recommended to prevent breast cancer from returning or reverse the growth. 

Why is Letrozole prescribed?

Health professionals prescribe this medication to treat or prevent certain types of breast cancer in a woman’s body that occurs naturally after menopause or (postmenopause).   • Hot Flashes: Hot flashes (sudden sweating and feelings of warmth) can sometimes occur when you first start taking letrozole. This usually tends to improve as fast as the body adjusts the letrozole
  • Headache and Fatigue: Headaches and lethargicness is the common side effect of this drug
  • Nausea: Letrozole may also make you nauseous or sick (vomiting, loss of appetite, or heartburn). These symptoms are usually mild and can improve over time.
  • Changes in Cholesterol level: It may also cause the level of cholesterol in the blood to rise. Although it has a mild effect, if you have a history of high cholesterol immediately see a doctor
  • Mood changes: Letrozole intake can cause low mood, difficulty sleeping, or tiredness
  • Vaginal dryness and irritation: Vaginal bleeding can happen in the first few weeks after starting letrozole, due to a change in hormone regulation
